Volker Hösel: Managing Director- StatSciConsult

Volker has an extensive scientific background in statistical and mathematical modelling. He participated in many international and multidisciplinary research projects. He runs his own consultancy business and is affiliated to the Institute of Biomathematics at the Technical University Munich as well as to the GSF- National Research Center for Environment and Health, Munich. Volker Hösel has a long record of teaching at the Technical University Munich as well as at the University of Applied Sciences Munich. His major fields are advanced computational and statistical methods in the biosciences. He developed a new curriculum for students of the advanced studies MSc Mathematics in Biosciences and MSc in Bioinformatics.

Recently he participated in the multicenter project BFAM (Bioinformatics for the Functional Analysis of Mammalian Genomes) operated by the German Network of the the Bioinformatics Competence Centers.  Besides being involved in research projects Volker gives training courses for scientists of different profession on a regular basis:  Explorative data analysis and mathematical modelling are represented in connection with concrete applications. Thereby he demonstrates also the use of SPLUS, R and MATHEMATICA.  Volker holds the German degrees Diploma in Mathematics (with Highest Distinction), Diploma in Physics received from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg as well as Dr.rer.nat in Mathematics from Technical University Munich. He spent his sabbatical year at the Center of Stochastic Processes at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
